Negation • In PD there are two words used for negation: net and ken. • Sentences are negated in PD just like they are in English: • That is expensive. – That is not expensive. • I am eating potatoes. – I am not eating any potatoes.
net • Net is normally placed before the word that is being negated: • Sell issdeier. – Sell issnetdeier. • Net can also be placed at the end of the sentence to negate the whole sentence: • Ichkaaf sell. – Ichkaaf sell net. • As a general rule of thumb, net is used when negating verbs.
ken • Ken is placed before nouns to negate them: • IchessGrummbiere. • IchesskenGrummbiere.
