Anger—A deadly sin? FAUSTUS.What art thou—the third? WRATH.I am Wrath. Anger—a neutral emotion? • Jesus was angry • Paul was angry • Moses was angry • David was angry • John the Baptist was angry • God the Father is angry • Jesus’ disciples were angry
Murder—Malice Aforethought • Starts in our mind • Grows in our heart • & finally finds its outlet in our deeds • Penalty—Death
…but I only thought it… • Jesus shows His understanding of the human heart—Jer. 17 v 9 • Jesus understands the effect it has on us & relationships—thought, word & deed. • Jesus distinguishes between mild & serious insults Matt 7 v 1 • Beware of literally applying every word—Biblical hyperbole
