  3. HISTORY • Began in 1937 during a meeting of theatre curators, librarians and historians • Became an affiliate of the the American Library Association in 1938

  4. MEMBERSHIP • Consists of those who actively promote the collection, preservation and use of performing arts materials • 272 members as of Summer 2012 • Annual membership costs: - Personal Members: $30 - $75 at 75 Anniversary Members: $75 - Students/Non-Salaried Members: $20 - Institutional Members: $40

  5. MEETINGS • Annual Business Meeting every October in New York • Awards Ceremony - held during Annual Meeting • Conference - held jointly with American Society for Theatre Research • Also hosts symposia

  6. AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS • Two book awards presented annually: • George Freedley Memorial Award • Richard Wall Memorial Award • Distinguished Service in Performing Arts Librarianship Award • Brooks McNamara Performing Arts Librarian Scholarship
