QC End-of-Course Assessment • Testing Methods: • computer- based testing (CBT) • Format Options: • Multiple-Choice plus Multiple-Choice • Each test is comprised of two parts and each part requires 45 minutes for completion, or 1 hour 30 minutes for the set.
Building Test Coordinator will be the ACT Quality Core EOC Administrator
ALSDE Mandated Students to • Students enrolled in • English 9, • English 10, • Algebra I, Algebra IB, • Geometry, or Geometry B • who will complete the course during the second term will participate in the corresponding EOC assessment. • AOD students enrolled in Algebra Essentials B (700016), Geometry Essentials B (700019), LSI English 9 (700001), and LSI English 10 (700002) will participate in the corresponding EOC assessment.

Spring, 2013 HCS QC Test DateResults will be available immediately
ACT ASPIRE Rosters Grade 3-10 • A total of 13,857 students will be taking the ACT Aspire assessment during the April 22- May 23, 2013 test window. ACT Aspire which will provide additional data in reading, math, science, and social studies common core standards for Fall 2013. • HCS students in Grades 3 – 10 (students that take the AAA will not participate) will participate in the ACT Aspire assessment April 22 – May 23, 2013. • All HCS schools (Grades 3-10) have been registered to participate in ACT Aspire. • Students can be tested at any time during this window (April 22 – May 23, 2013), except when the ALSDE mandated assessments are taking place (ARMT+ and ACT Quality Core EOC assessments). • Participation will provide each school with baseline test scores for ACT Aspire. • ACT Aspire will provide schools with test scores on the new three-digit score scale and allow student to practice their test-taking skills on new computer-administered items aligned to the Common Core State Standards. • Schools will receive test score for each participating student in fall 2013. • The scores will be linked to the ACT College Readiness Benchmark and will be useful for both cross-sectional and longitudinal comparisons.
HCS Waiver for ACT Quality Core End-of-Course Assessment • Students in grades 11-12 (Cohort 2010-11 and Cohort 2009-10) must take the AHSGE and the ACT Quality Core End-of-Course Assessments in the following areas for the 2012-13 assessment window. The AHSGE will be phased out during 2014-15 and will no longer be a graduation requirement for an Alabama Diploma for any student after the 2010-11 Cohort: • English 9, • English 10, • English 11, • English 12, • Algebra I, • Geometry, • Algebra II, • PreCalculus, • Biology, • Chemistry, • Physics, and • U.S. History.
AHSGE or QC End-of-Course • Students must pass five sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) in Reading, Mathematics, Language, Social Studies, and Biologyor pass the ACT Quality Core End-of-Course exam in English 11, Algebra II, Biology, and U.S. Historyto meet the graduation requirements for an Alabama diploma. • AHGE Reading or ACT English 11 Quality Core End- of-Course Assessment • AHSGE Language or ACT English 11 Quality Core End- of-Course Assessment • AHSGE Mathematics or ACT Algebra II Quality Core End- of-Course Assessment • AHSGE Social Studies or ACT U.S. History Quality Core End-of-Course Assessment • AHSGE Biology or ACT Biology Quality Core End-of- Course Assessment
AP Physics and AP US History Students Can Opt OUT of EOC • Quality Core Physics EOC assessment can be taken by students taking AP Physics Exam, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013. • Quality Core US History EOC assessment can be taken by students taking taking the AP US History Exam, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013 (HCS Waiver Assessment).
AP English 11 and AP English 12 Students Can Opt OUT of EOC • Quality Core English 11 EOC assessment can be taken by students taking the AP Language Exam, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013 (HCS Waiver Assessment). • Quality Core English 12 EOC assessment can be taken by students taking the AP Literature Exam, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013.
ACT QualityCore EOC Biology • Quality Core Biology is for first year biology students (usually in grade nine) and not for students in AP Biology, which is a second year college level course. • Quality Core Biology EOC assessment can be taken by students taking the AP Biology, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013 (HCS Waiver Assessment).
ACT QualityCore EOC Chemistry • Quality Core Chemistry is for first year chemistry and is not for AP Chemistry or Advanced Chemistry which are both second year courses. • Quality Core Chemistry EOC assessment can be taken by students taking the AP Chemistry, but these students are not required to take the EOC assessment for Spring 2013.

Will student information be pre-populated in the QualityCore system in order for LEAs to create testing rosters? • The ALSDE provided student information to ACT to pre-populate for QualityCore testing. Schools will prepare their testing rosters from these pre-populated lists. Students who enrolled after this information was uploaded will need to be added. What do we do about students enrolled in courses divided into two parts (Algebra IA and 1B, Geometry A and B, U.S. History? • Students enrolled in Algebra IA will NOT take the QualityCore Algebra I assessment. Students enrolled in Algebra IB will take the assessment at the end of Algebra IB. • Students enrolled in Geometry A will NOT take the QualityCore Geometry assessment. Students enrolled in Geometry B will take the assessment at the end of Geometry B. • Students enrolled in tenth grade U.S. History (United States History to 1877) will NOT take the QualityCore U.S. History assessment when it is offered in 2013-2014. Students enrolled in eleventh-grade U.S. History (United States History from 1877 to Present) will take the assessment at the end of the course when it offered in 2013-2014.
