These are very essential for the proper growth and development of the body. All these nutrients are derived from the food we eat and the water we drink. Oxidative stress, in general terms, is an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants present in the body, which can lead to cell and tissue damage. Oxidative stress occurs naturally and increases the rate and speed of aging. Long-term oxidative stress can lead to the development of many chronic conditions. Such conditions can include cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The cells present in our body produce free radicals during normal metabolic processes. However, these cells also produce antioxidants that neutralize these free radicals. The main aim of the body is to maintain a balance between antioxidants and free radicals. This balance is very essential for the proper growth of the body. Any imbalance in the quantity of either one or both of these elements can lead to different health and mental issues. The effects of oxidative stress vary differently in different people and are not always harmful. For example, oxidative stress that results from physical activity is very bene?cial and it regulates the functioning of the body. Exercise increases free radical formation, which can cause temporary oxidative stress in the muscles. However, the free radicals formed during physical activity increases the rate of tissue growth and stimulates the production of antioxidants.
