The result of an interview is subject to an interviewer’s perception and biases. For a candidate, the process and its outcome is unpredictable and, therefore, stressful. Interviews induce nervous behaviour in the best of us, be it an enthusiastic intern or a skilled professional. “It is natural to be anxious when the stakes are high and you have little control over the situation,” says Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Research and Development (WeSchool).

MASTER YOUR INTERVIEW
The result of an interview is subject to an interviewer’s perception and biases. For a candidate, the process and its outcome is unpredictable and, therefore, stressful. Interviews induce nervous behaviour in the best of us, be it an enthusiastic intern or a skilled professional. “It is natural to be anxious when the stakes are high and you have little control over the situation,” says Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Research and Development (WeSchool). http://www.udaysalunkhe.com
Welingkar, Mumbai, is a member institution of the ShikshanaPrasaraka (S.P.) Mandali, Pune. Educational institutions of S.P. Mandali attract students from all over India as they are known for their academic excellence. Welingkar is no exception; the business school has the distinction of being the seventh best educational institute in South Asia. http://www.udaysalunkhewelingkar.com
Workshops at Welingkar are carefully designed to offer interactive learning which is comprehensive and practical. Through these workshops, the school aims to broaden perspectives of students and prepare them for future challenges like interviews. Dr. Uday Salunkhe says, “At Welingkar, we believe that being prepared for interviews is essential in every walk of life. But essentially, it is an art that can be mastered with guidance and practice.” http://www.udaysalunkhe.co.in
Tell Them More About Yourself You can extend the introduction answer to reveal your interesting personality. Mention unique hobbies and initiatives to pique the interviewer’s interest. This is a good chance to talk about something that you’d like a follow-up question on. http://www.udaysalunkhe.net
Highlight Capabilities Through Past Achievements When asked questions about past experience (“Where have you worked?” or “What role did you play in your last organization”), use the opportunity to highlight your skills and achievements. Give an example of your enterprising nature that shows how, using a strategic approach, you managed to avert a crisis in the past. Such additions can invite more questions (about the crisis, your learning etc.), driving the conversation in your chosen direction. http://www.udaysalunkhewelingkar.net
Show Interest In The Question Topic You Are Comfortable With Maintaining enthusiasm and a positive attitude throughout the interview is great, but you can veer the conversation towards certain topics by showing extra interest in a related question. This will raise the interviewer’s curiosity, leading him to ask more questions on that topic, and continue the interview on your terms.
