  2. Oneofthe many benefitsofusinga liquid screedinsteadofaconventionalsandand cement screed when constructing a building is thefactthatitwillachieveafargreater surfaceregularity,orflatness. BritishstandardsdefineSurfaceRegularityofa floor, whichisameasurementofany “waviness”asSR1,SR2,andSR3.Thisis calculated by laying a two-metre straightedge on the surface and then measuring any gaps underneath it using a slip gauge. Toachieve SR1 which is high standard, any gaps must not exceed3mm.

When you have a sand and cement screed it isbarrowed on to the substrate and then levelled out by a man on hands and knees usingahandtrowel.Thisisnotonlyan extremelylengthy(andnodoubtboring) process,butit is alsoverydifficultifnotnear impossible to achieve anything better than SR3,utilitystandard. There are even more benefits when you are installing underfloorheatinginconjunction withaliquidscreed. Quite obviously, because it is liquid it will flow all over theheatingpipesandtotallycoverthemwithout leavinganygapsorvoids.
