Symbiotic Relationships • 2 organisms living in a close area together. • The 3 words that fit under the “umbrella” of Symbiotic Relationships: -Commensalism -Mutualism -Parasitism
Commensalism Definition: Example: • 1 species benefits and the other does not benefit. • When Chimpanzees live in the forest and use trees for shelter. The Chimpanzees benefit from it because they get shelter but the tree doesn’t get benefitted.
Mutualism Definition: Examples: • Both species benefit. • The relationships between humans and the Chimpanzees. The Chimpanzees benefit the humans by providing research and happiness to them. The humans benefit the Chimpanzees by providing shelter and food for rescued ones.
Parasitism Definition: Example: • 1 species benefits and 1 is harmed. • When the Chimpanzees eat the ants. The Chimpanzees get benefited by getting food but the ants get harmed because they get eaten.
