  1. Welcome to NAHS! National Art Honor Society Of Lawrence E. Elkins High School

  2. What is NAHS? The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is designed specifically for high school students in grades 9-12. In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the National Art Honor Society program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

  4. NAHS Requirements You must have at least taken 1 high school art class. Passing grades; No Pass, No Play. Dues must be paid by October 15th, 2013.(Dues:$5) You must attend at least 5 meetings per semester. (We DO NOT want ghost members!) Just have fun! Mistakes are a creative process! It’s okay to mess up! (: Everyone in NAHS is equal.

  5. Points Points are taken & recorded by your Publicity/Historian. Points from certain task varies depending on what you do. Attending Meetings: 1 point Painting Mural (Second Semester): 5 points per hour. Note: Anyone can be a part of the mural. You don’t have to be an amazing painter. Just put your heart into your art and it’ll be fine! NAHS events: Depends on what the event is, points can range from 5-10 depending on hours or Sponsors & President. Wear your T-Shirt: 1 point (Wear your shirt on the days of the meetings to be counted). Extra Credit: Holiday cards, going to Fine Arts Museum/Theatre’s or Art events. (You must have some proof of you going to the event or place! Ex: A ticket from the Museum. No proof, then no points.) Points will be up to the President & Sponsor. Art Contests: If you are enrolled in an art class. Our UIL contest (VASE) can earn you points. Our T-shirt and Mural design contest can also earn you points. NEW RULE: We will and can take points off this year, depending on the actions each member performs.

  6. Points cont. Don’t be scared! You can’t lose points that easily! Just remember… No bad conduct Attend meetings! Stay active! Do what you’re supposed to do! Stay an active member! Ghost members are UNACCEPTABLE. Inactive members can be immediately removed.

  7. What can these points get you? 200 points will earn you a letterman or NAHS patch. SENIORS ONLY: Seniors will be able to receive their NAHS cord, if able to maintain above an 3.0 GPA (a passing grade) & earn 100 points for your senior year. (REMEMBER: Only seniors can earn cords, your points for senior year are the only points that can be counted for your cord, not your previous years.)

  8. What exactly does NAHS do? Elkins NAHS has painted all the murals that are displayed all around Elkins High School. We will be painting another one this year! ;) Silent Art Auction (Spring) VANS Shoes Volunteer events Holiday Chalk Art …and much more!

  11. So..why should you join this club? This would be a wonderful learning experience for new members and a continuous experience for old members. We aren’t about being the best & expecting the best! Everyone is equal, and no one is better than another person! All we want from YOU is: Time & effort Positive attitude Learn new things &.. HAVE FUN!

  12. How To Sign Up All you have to do is get onto our weebly. You can access it on your mobile phone or a computer. http://ehsnationalarthonorsociety.weebly.com/ On there you simply have to navigate to the “Sign Up” page and fill in your information.

T-Shirts and Mural Designs • The T-shirts and Mural designs are for the students, by the students. • We are accepting T-shirt design ideas AND Mural Design ideas. • The deadline to turn in T-shirt designs will be the first meeting of October. • This is NOT required. It is only if you want to! • The deadline to turn in Mural designs will be the last meeting of October. • T-shirts: • Must have NAHS written somewhere on it. • Please do not include the year on it. • Keep colors to a minimum. Less color = lower price. • Mural: • The theme this year is Technology and Careers. It will be a mural for the Engineering Academy and the career based electives of EHS.
