  1. Do Now - March 7 • Pick up Reading Sheet 8 • No reading sheet due today! If you have one, bring it next week! • Look at grade report for first six weeks. • Notice your grade for attendance, tests, papers, and homework • Notice your number of tardies and unexcused absences.

  3. Goals Set two goals for the 5th six weeks period. These can do with attendance, grades, etc. Make them specific! NO “I will come to class” INSTEAD“I will have no more than 3 unexcused absences” NO “I will work harder” INSTEAD “I will get at least a 70% on my homework grade” NO “I will get better grades” INSTEAD “I will hand in all writing assignments and retake quizzes until I have at least an 80% quiz grade.

Why should I care? • Get into four groups. • Read excerpt on Ernest Hemingway • Fill out your portion of the graphic organizer • Individuals from group 1 and 2 will teach students from groups 3 and 4 what they learned in their reading. If you are learning, write down your findings on your graphic organizer. • Group 1 and 2 will switch with group 3 and 4 • Make sure you have information from all four groups! This is your exit ticket!

  23. Journal Journal about a personal struggle you have faced. It can be a situation that you have had success in or failure. You can hand it in if you want, or keep it private. I will give you effort grades as you write today.

For what reason(s) does he really want him present? • Let’s say the old man struggled painlessly against the fish, in the sense that it wasn’t much of a struggle at all. Imagine it.
