Input • Sand and resin mold • Hand file • Molten aluminum • Spray washer • Technicians • Intake manifold • Cylinder heads • Valves guides, covers • Valves • Id plate • Crankshaft • Cylinder liners • Rubber mallet • Lubricant • Torque gun, connecting rods • Fuel injection system. • Dynamometer
Process • The engine block begins with a set of molds cast from a mixture of sand and resin, glue them together. They file final adjustments to the mold by sculpting it to the finest detail. An automated machine releases molten aluminum into the mold. After its cooled, the part is released. They spray wash the cylinder head to remove debris then technicians assemble the cylinder heads and intake manifold. The valve guides are put into place, then the valves are inserted. Each cylinder head is visually inspected. Valve movement is tested. The crank shaft is machined and positioned into the engine block. A technician lubes the cylinder liners and inserts them. The insert the pistons and connecting rods, secure the rods with a torque gun. They bolt in the valve cover, attach the intake manifold and the fuel injection system.
Feedback • High performance engines are extremely reliable, and costly. They are reserved for high end car manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, BMW and Audi. They are only used by the ultra rich because they are so costly.
