Internet Safety Things never to post publically on the internet: • Codenames or passwords for any accounts • Pictures of credit cards • Personal information such as home addresses and phone numbers
Public Wi-fi Moderate time spent on public wi-fi such as in internet cafes; Others have the ability to steal information that is transacted during the use of public wi-fi networks • Never perform any online transaction using public wi-fi • Going onto an account makes it possible for others to retrieve the information of the account, beginning with the username and password
Creating Powerpoints • Start with a header page, consisting of at least the title of the powerpoint and the name of the presenter • Plan out your powerpoint, and place the slides in an ascending or otherwise sensible order • State main points only, and elaborate on these points when giving a presentation • Choose a theme or style for your powerpoint that is relevant to the subject
Creating a Weebly Account • Go to the Weebly website by searching for “weebly” • Simply input your name, email, and a password, and an account will be created • Note that not more than one account can be created using the same email address
Personalizing Your Weebly Website Once your account has been created, you can customize your Weebly website in way of: • Adding/deleting pages • Uploading photos and creating slideshows • Creating polls on your website • Adding external links to other websites
Ted Talks • TED is a nonprofit [organization] devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. 1
Cyber Bullying • Cyber bullying can be defined as any sort of harassment or stalking via the internet • There are laws against cyber bullying in most states • Cyber bullies can be charged with felon in some cases
Typing Programs There are specific beginner friendly programs made specially for typing, which allow users to: • Learn to type fluently at a comfortable pace • Chart progress and identify weak points • Learn to type with varying degrees of proficiency
Internet Uses There are several different uses for the internet, such as: • www.website.com for companies • www.website.gov for government • www.website.mil for military • www.website.org for non-profit organizations • www.website.net for networks
Password Strategies • For a strong password, use at least 8 characters, and include special characters (!@#$%^& etc.) • Create a password that is similar for all of your accounts, modifying the password slightly using the name of the site (LOG@Nbog@nYAH for Yahoo and LOG@Nbog@nFAC for Facebook, for example)
Saving Documents These steps will work for any Microsoft programs • Press F12 and the “save as” menu will pop up, allowing you to edit the file name, file location, etc. • Press Ctrl+s and the file will be instantly saved over the most recent version of the file.
Printing Documents The simplest way to print any document that you are viewing is to press CTRL + P; this will bring up the print menu. You can then: • Select the number of copies you want to print • Select the printer you want to use • Select the colors used in printing • Select what parts of the document you would like to print
