Customer Expectations • Portability Confirmation • - Carriers can port numbers only if both carriers provide service in the local area with which the phone number is associated. • Handset Requirements • - CDMA required - your old equipment may work on the VZW network, but the availability & quality of services may vary - Some calling plans require specific equipment • Activation Notes • - Old handset will continue to allow incoming & outgoing calls until the port is complete and *228 is successful- Billing account will be active with VZW at the time the phone is shipped • - Will be in dual billing mode (may receive invoice from both carriers for same number) until *228 is completed- Will not be able to receive calls, including return calls from 911, on your VZW phone until the port is completed • Dial *228 + Send • - Once you receive your Verizon Wireless handset - dial *228 Send to complete the porting activation process. • - Your old equipment and service will automatically disconnect with Old Service Provider once *228 is successful • - Will have ability to make calls from new VZW phone once *228 is successful
LNP - Business Porting Process • Validation failures returned to new Service Provider for resolution • Standard set of reason codes for issues requiring resolution 5.Activation Industry broadcast message occurs to all carriers. New service with VZW begins 4. Disconnect After receipt of new phone, end user dials *228 + send. This triggers disconnect with old service provider 3. Order Submitted Phone shipped within 2 business days • 2. Validate • Mobile Number • Zip Code • Billing/Company Name • Federal Tax ID or Old Service Provider • Account # • Password (if applicable) 1. Porting Timeframes The number of lines intended for porting will impact the time it takes to complete a port. Single Line Multiple Line Wireline • 24 to 48 hours • Up to several days • Up to 10 days Note: Maximum number of lines able to port in 1 day = 100 • Note:All timing is estimated and could take longer than indicated. • Multiple service provider coordination • High volume of lines • Multiple geographic locations This information is current as of 11/17/2004 and is subject to change- Verizon Wireless
LNP - Resolution During the port process, clarification of information may be required with the old service provider and/or the customer. This may require action by Verizon Wireless’ customer service call center that has been established to specialize in porting activities. • ResolutionRequired • Created state-of-the-art customer service Porting Center with over 1000 VZW employees to track, troubleshoot and resolve porting issues. What Can You Do To Prepare? • Contact your Verizon Wireless Account Manager for port requests over 25 lines or VIP port requests. • Communicate within your company that only authorized personnel are able to make changes to your company’s accounts, including porting. • Have your old service provider information available to ensure accuracy in the data relayed to Verizon Wireless (i.e. copy of OSP current bill, passwords). • Do not cancel service with your old provider before requesting to port in to Verizon Wireless - cancelled numbers are not eligible to be ported. • Submit a request to OSP to remove all number blocks and passwords at both the account level and the line level.
