Acts 2 Objectives for ABC Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayers.”
1. Our objective is to communicate the gospel to ourselves and the lost all around.” • Therefore we give priority to biblical exposition from the ABC pulpit and every teaching lectern. • The leadership of the Sr. Pastor will first be seen in public and private exposition of the Word of God.
2. Our objective is to worship God as our Creator and Redeemer. • Our individual and corporate worship will therefore give God thoughtful words, devoted prayers and excellence in music. • Our worship will not exalt ourselves, our needs or feelings. • Our worship will remain Christ-centered, rooted in the gospel. • Our worship will present to God our lives, living sacrifices, heart, soul and mind devoted to God in love.
3. Our objective is to display spiritual care to God’s flock, the church. • Our true needs will be met by God and by our church family. • Our greatest testimony to a watching world will be our love for one another.
4. Our objective is to train all to be disciple-makers, organizing all our church by the Great Commission mandate – “make disciples of all nations.” • Worship services, medium and small groups will by design and practice produce growing, spiritually mature followers of Christ. • Together we will do the “work of ministry.”
5. Our objective is to lead the unsaved near and far to faith and love of Jesus Christ. • We will earnestly pursue the lost in informal as well as organized ministries in our community. • We will maintain a worldwide missions ministry, for “how shall they hear without a preacher?”. • We will witness fervently as we anticipate God to add to this church those who are being saved.
Who is the “most important person” at Ankeny Baptist Church? An executive at Coca Cola was asked something similar: “Who is the most important person at Coca Cola?” His answer: “The person who drinks Pepsi!”
The most important person at Ankeny Baptist Church is… …the person in our city who does not now know Christ or love Him. …the most important people are those who are lost, heading for eternity in hell apart from Christ. "The most sobering reality in the world today is that people are dying and going to hell today.”
