HIGH SPEED TRAIN PRESENTED BY- VISHAL KUMAR RAO
CONTENT- • INTRODUCTION • MAIN COMPONENT • TRACK DESIGN • SAFETY • BENFIT • DRAWBACK OF HST
INTRODUCTION- • Faster than traditional rail • Using a integrated system of rolling stock • It operate on dedicated tracks • High speed rail is usually for passenger travel
INTRODUCTION-(cont.) • Separate lines built for speed of 250 km/hr. • Existing lines upgraded to speeds of 200 km/hr. • Upgraded lines whose speed are constrain by circumstance.
DEFINITION OF HIGH SPEED TRAIN- • The EUD define HST as set of three element- (1).Infrastructure (2).Rolling stock (3).Operation condition • According to THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF RAILWAYS
HISTORY OF HST- • The first high speed train line for passenger open in JAPAN in 1964. • That time its speed was 210 km/hr. • Now its speed is 274 km/hr.
HIGH SPEED TRAIN COMPONENT 1.Head light 2.Driver cab 3.Power car 4.Motor truck 5.Passenger car 6.air compressor unit 7.Pilot 8.Coupling device .
JAPAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT- • Japanese national railways. • In 1957 engineer launched ODAKYO 3000 series(145 km/hr). • The new service names SHINKASEN run of new lines. • In 1964 the first passenger HST name as “BULLET TRAIN”.
HIGH SPEED TRAIN IN ASIA- • HST in CHINA. • HST in JAPAN. • HST in SOUTH KOREA. • HST in TAIWAN.
HIGH SPEED TRAIN IN 2013- • CRH380A(480km/hr)(CHINA). • GERMANY TRANSRAPID TR-09(449km/hr) • SHINKANSEN(442km/hr). • SHANGAI’S MAGNETIC LEVITATION(MAGLEV)(434 km/hr). • FRANCE’S TGV RESEAU(379 km/hr)
TRACK DESIGN- • CONTINIOUS WELDED RAIL is generally used. • High speed line avoid tight curves • The line may rest on traditional sleeper or concrete tiles.
HIGH SPEED TRAIN IN INDIA- • India has one of the largest train network. • Not have rail line capable of speed 200 km/hr. • Currently fastest train in INDIA is BHOPAL SHATABDI speed 150km/hr. • Current efforts.
SEAFTY IN HST- • HST is simpler to control. • HST reduce the collision with automobiles or people. • Easy maintenance. • Eliminate grade level crossing.
ADVANTAGE OVER AIR TRAVEL- • Rail station are typically closer to the urban centre. • Heavy snow, heavy fog & storms do not affect the journey. • HST also have comfort advantage. • HST is economic than air travel.
BENFITS OF HST- • Creates million of jobs. • Offer a convenient, comfortable way to travel. • Safe & affordable for everyone. • End the war of oil.
DARK SIDE OF HST- • The 1998 ESCHEDKE accident. • The 2011 WENHOU accident. • 2013 SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTETTAL accident.
WILL PEOPLE USE IT?- • People want more than trains. • Report of APTA. • Time is very important factor.
