  4. INTRODUCTION-(cont.) • Separate lines built for speed of 250 km/hr. • Existing lines upgraded to speeds of 200 km/hr. • Upgraded lines whose speed are constrain by circumstance.

  5. DEFINITION OF HIGH SPEED TRAIN- • The EUD define HST as set of three element- (1).Infrastructure (2).Rolling stock (3).Operation condition • According to THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF RAILWAYS

  6. HISTORY OF HST- • The first high speed train line for passenger open in JAPAN in 1964. • That time its speed was 210 km/hr. • Now its speed is 274 km/hr.

  7. HIGH SPEED TRAIN COMPONENT 1.Head light 2.Driver cab 3.Power car 4.Motor truck 5.Passenger car 6.air compressor unit 7.Pilot 8.Coupling device .

  8. JAPAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT- • Japanese national railways. • In 1957 engineer launched ODAKYO 3000 series(145 km/hr). • The new service names SHINKASEN run of new lines. • In 1964 the first passenger HST name as “BULLET TRAIN”.
