  5. Theplanets • They are large, sphere-shapedbodies. • TheytravelaroundtheSun in analmost circular pathcalledanorbit. • Thereare twomaingroups.

  6. Theinnerplanets • These are thefourplanetsclosesttotheSun. • Theyhave a rockysurface. • TheclosestplanettotheSunis Mercury, followedby Venus, theEarth, Mars.

  7. Theouterplanets • These are thefourplanetsfarthestawayfromtheSun. • They are muchlargerthaninnerplanetsand they are composedmainly of gas (“gas giants”) • TheclosestouterplanettotheSunisJupiter, followedbySaturn, Uranus, thenNeptune.
