The Challenge • Low income area • Neighborhood neglected and rundown • New road construction created empty homes and businesses • Library full of bored kids
The Idea Create a Makerspace learning environment on the wasteland outside the library.
What is the plan? Start small but think big. Short term plan from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Choose a manageable plot size to begin with. Create a small garden to grow flowers and vegetables. Include an artist’s corner.
What does it need? Art Supplies Storage Tools
How? • Library sponsorship • Donations and Grants from Local Businesses • Volunteers • Interest from the local community • Fees
