Agenda-1(a) Crop wise Rabi Assessment Area- 000 ha. Production- 000 MT • Failure of winter rain has adversely affected rabi crops in rain fed areas of state covering 34 tehsil in 8 district. • In the month of Jan, Feb 09 & upto 1st week of march rise in temperature has also been recorded.
Agenda-1(b) Crop wise Kharif Prospects Area- 000 ha. Production- 000 MT • Paddy crop had been adversely affected due to heavy rainfall in the month of September. • Proposal to replace directed seeded rain fed paddy by maize, pulses & oilseeds. • Focused attraction on intercropping.

Agenda-4 Strengthening of Extension Machinery • One Extension Worker is placed in each NYAY PANCHAYAT. • 95 Farm Schools (One in each block) operationalized. • Kisan gosthi/Kisan mela/ Exhibition and farmer’s trainings were organized in each Nyay Panchayat under “KRISHAK MAHOTSVA- Kharif” and “KRISHAK MAHOTSVA- Rabi 2008”. All line departments, NGOs and private parties participated, provided their services and inputs to the farmers. • 26 SMS/Extension Workers (B.Sc. (Ag)/I.Sc (Ag) from local sources) are approved to be appointed in 26 different Nyay Panchayat spread in remote hill areas of the state on pilot testing basis from RKVY funds. • 325 motivators have been selected in cluster of traditional crops, 3227 SHGs and 64 Federations formed, 3235 house hold covered under IFAD scheme. • Linkages between Scientists- Farmers- Extension workers- are being strengthened. • G.O. has been issued for organization of Krishak Gosthi on 7th day of each month by Nyay Panchayat Extension Workers involving minimum 10 progressive farmers from each Gram Sabha. • On 16th day of each quarter month (March, June, Sept., Dec.) Farmer-Scientist Gosthi will be organised at block level to solve the problems of the farmers. • Farmers will be taken to the KVK’s experimental/demorstration plots in kharif & Rabi season by the extension workers.

Agenda-7 • Best Practices adopted by the state • Inter- cropping of Urd/Moong in Spring/ Summer sown sugarcane . • Promoting SRI method of rice cultivation. • Promoting summer maize cultivation for green-cob production along YATRA ROUTE & tourist places. • Promoting Buyer-Seller meet for direct buying & selling of Basmati rice resulting into higher rate of price to farmers. This will be replicated in other commodities too. • Local material based low cost poly houses/poly tunnels for off season vegetable cultivation in water shed areas. • Low cost LDPE tanks for water harvesting also in water shed areas.
