  1. 中文五F Block Course Objectives 1st Semester • Revisit and enhance four language skills learned from previous Chinese studies in the contexts of: Seeing a Doctor, Dating, Renting an Apartment, Travel, and At the Airport • Develop proficient and deeper conversational skills by understanding and using idioms and authentic phrases (Chinese Sayings) • Develop and extend four communicative skills in the contexts of: • First Day of School • Dormitory • At the Restaurant • Shopping • Selecting Courses

  2. Warm Up (十月二十一日星期一) • Review Lesson 1 text and dialogue, 10 min self study. • Unit Test Written Part.

  3. Warm Up (十月二十二日星期二) • Lesson 1 Unit Test – Spoken part. • More reading on 庄子. 逍遥游.

  4. Lesson 1 (十月二十三日星期三) • Lesson 1 Unit Test – Finishing up. • Organize characters – semantic/phonetic component alignment. • Prep Skype with Ms. Lee.

  5. Lesson 1 (十月二十四日星期四) • Skype with 李老师 – first 10 minutes • Lesson 2 Objectives. • Study 生词 – flashcard • Organize characters – semantic/phonetic component alignment. • Character WS

  7. Warm Up (十月十六日星期三) • Continue Component Poster. • Read rewritten version of 庄子. 逍遥游.大葫芦。 • How to look up characters in a dictionary when you don’t know its pronunciation.

  8. Warm Up (十月十七日星期四) • Go over Reading 逍遥游.大葫芦part 1 + 2 • Go over speaking test rubric. • Work on FAQ for speaking test.

  10. Self study 5 minutes (十月十八日星期五) • L1 Objectives • You will be able to discuss the pros and cons of living on and off campus • You will be able to say where you are born and grew up • You will be able to express dissenting opinion politely. • Lab - try out speaking in the lab with a partner. • Complete FAQ • Work on speaking test with different partners. • Unit test : Monday(written) and Tuesday (speaking) next week
