Beam Transport Hall – 227m long above grade facility to transport the electron beam through the existing RSY • Central Lab Office Complex – office facility to house ~ 275 LCLS researchers, engineers, technicians, administrative staff and visiting experimentalists • Undulator Hall – 170m long underground tunnel housing undulators and ancillary equipment • Far Experimental Hall – underground single 46’ cavern to house 3 experimental hutches and prep space • Electron Beam Dump – 40m long underground facility used to separate the electron and x-ray beams • Front End Enclosure – 40m long underground facility to house various diagnostic equipment in support of the photon beam • Near Experimental Hall – underground facility whose primary function is to house 3 experimental hutches, prep and shops • X-Ray Transport & Diagnostics Tunnel – 200m long underground tunnel used to transport photon beams from NEH to FEH

Status of Title II • RSY - CLOC performed by Jacobs Engineering • Design Progress • 100% design submittal received as scheduled on Jan 30, 06 • LCLS design review completed Feb 3, 06 • LCLS submitted 100% comments to JE Feb 6, 06 • Final submittal (“Issue For Bid”) submitted Feb 17, 2006 including 100% construction cost estimate • Addendum #1 submitted Mar 27, 06 • Addendum #2 submitted Apr 10, 06 • Issue For Construction set submitted Apr 14, 06
Status of CMGC • TC is engaged in Phase 1 stage performing pre-construction and pre-planning activities • Pre-con on site staff (2 PM’s and 1 PE), other staff on-site throughout the week include superintendent, safety coordinator, scheduler, etc • Enhance understanding of site conditions and lab activities • Development of bid packages (Groups 1-4) • Conducted bidders pre-conference • Manage and direct potholing activities for verification of underground utilities • Commenced weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings
SLAC Plans for Construction • Use of Alpine Gate for all subcontractors • Gate 17 will remain open 24/7 • Implement an approved Tunnel Rescue Team prior to start of any tunneling by July 25, 06 • Resolve recommendations from an acoustical consulting engineer for noise levels resulting from construction activities July 25, 06 • Develop noise abatement plan for equipment • Continue to engage with Turner in developing a strong bidders list • Continue coordinating with lab liaison (Steve Williams) for LCLS and SLAC interface issues

Turner Plans for Construction – cont’d • Receive Authorization to Proceed May 10, 06 • Complete potholing and underground surveying by May 24, 06 • Mobilization and Site Work commences on May 24, 06 • Tunneling operations commence July 25, 06 • GC staff peaks at 19 personnel on-site • Work the approved processes in place for Change Orders, Request For Information (RFI) and Submittals • Turner schedule meets or exceeds LCLS needs
TCCO Logistics Plan • Overall, Plan Offers Many Benefits • Maintains spoils adjacent to project • Sufficient lay-down areas for subs • Area is generally isolated from the lab main arteries (CEH and RSY exception) • All contractors access project through Alpine Gate
LCLS CF Construction Schedule • RSY-CLOC activities reflect 1 month float→L3 milestone • Construction phase commences June 06→Oct 08

Summary • Worked >30,000 construction man-hours to date with zero injuries • Title II 100% design submittal received with returned comments from SLAC on Feb 06, 06 • Construction documents “Issue for Bid” on Feb 17 • Turner Construction is 60% complete thru Phase 1 • CF staff has been strengthened to ensure adequate experience is integrated in all requirements • GC staff will have adequate level of support for all construction activities • Team (LCLS CF/JE/TC) is ready to commence construction!
