Fr. Delahanty’s Trip to Kenya with CRS September 2006 Compiled by Maggie Ringe
CRS Social Justice Trips take participants to the third world to show them first hand the situation there and how CRS is working to aid the people. In return participants must share what they have seen and learned with their community when they return. In this spirit Fr. Pat Delahanty has very kindly shared his pictures and stories from his recent trip to Kenya.

One of the projects the CRS team participated in was creating a sand dam water filter so that the local people could have clean and safe drinking water. The following pictures are from this project.
Candace lends a hand to the Kenyans building a filter to provide their village with safe drinking water.
Dee checks the water for impurities.
Tina, another of the CRS participants, speaks to a group of villagers and volunteers via a translator.
Another project the CRS team was able to witness was the Embu Child Survival Program, which helps Kenyan parents raise healthy children.
Parents participating in a class on children’s health take notes.

John, a CRS staff member, communicates with group of Kenyans through pictures.
Some of the other projects the CRS team witnessed included seeing how food donations from the US arrived in Africa, the Likoni Peace Conference between Muslim and Christian leaders and a drama troop that uses plays and skits to teach its audience about real life problems, such as AIDS.
The Senior Imam makes a presentation at the Likoni Peace Conference.
