Regional Center for Underwater Demining Bijela, Montenegro The tasks of GIS inside the Regional Center for Underwater Demining – Bijela, Montenegro - to perform together with the divers of the RCUD underwater exploration of suspicious areas, - to collect data and mapp mine fields, - to give expert consult in execution of the humanitarian underwater and land demining, - and to take part in information exchanges.
Achived results with GIS support: • In April 2002 RCUD divers have demined two mine fields in the Montenegrin underwater coastal area of the 300.000 m2, • Our deminers in collaboration with HCR have done exploration of the land mine fields in border area between Croatia and Montenegro, • We have completed the exploration of the suspicious underwater locations in sea and lakes and filed a report to ITF in May 2002 , • During February and March 2003, our divers have explored and demined the underwater area of Prevlaka peninsula on surface of 500,000 square meters on depth from 20m to 50m, • For the purpose of the RCUD projects, control and supervision GPS campaign where and are done.
