After-Action Review (AAR) Process Overview(1) • What? • Designed to help an organization validate or improve its mission and training performance • Focuses on organization and exercise objectives • Provides lessons learned • Assists EXCON in exercise design and execution

After-Action Review (AAR) Process Overview(3) • Who? • AAR Managers • Responsible for training of AAR Analysts • Located with EXCON in Bulgaria • Provides daily feedback to EXCON on exercise progress • Facilitates the regional AAR • Reports regional lessons learned • Analysts/Observers - Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Located at each National EOC: • Collect information related to regional and national training objectives • Report exercise progress via JEMM OPCAR Tab • Assist AAR Manager in preparing regional exercise reports • Produce national / organizational lessons learned

Preview of Practical Exercises (PE) • The PE will use the “hands-on” approach with JEMM • 1st we will learn how to use the OPCAR Tab in JEMM • 2nd we will use the Sub-Regional incidents to practice sending input to the AAR Managers • Finally, we will spend time reporting on the outcome of National incidents • Daily VTC format
Preparingfor the 19 Oct facilitated AAR • The AAR is scheduled for 19 Oct 12 / 1400-1500 • Begin building the AAR after STARTEX – don’t wait • The template is in the CMP • We will use the same format for daily AAR Team VTCs • KEY – Completed AAR slides must be forwarded following the final AAR Team VTC on 18 Oct
