Alamo • The Alamo is part of the Mexican-American War that took place in Texas. • Americans migrated to Texas and used the Alamo as their base for the battle against the troops of Santa Anna. • The Alamo was also used by the Americans as shelter for many of them. It was a place that meant a lot for them since it was the only place that they could possibly stay until they went into war. • It was also one of the very first place that United States took over.
Sutter’s Fort and Sutter’s Mill Sutter’s Fort Sutter’s Mill Sutter’s Mill was a sawmill owned by a pioneer John Sutter. It was there that he found flakes of gold. Many people heard of this and later many came in order to find gold. That event was called the Gold Rush. Many people came from a lot of places some in which weren’t from United States. • Sutter’s Fort was a built fort that was owned by John Sutter and built by him to. • It was a rest station for many of the people that came to the Gold Rush. But after gold was found at Sutter’s Mill the fort was abandoned. • The area would later become Sacramento.
Oregon Trail • This is a trail that people took so they can go live in the west because they disliked the lives they had in the east.
California • The California Gold Rush is a Gold Rush that was in California. John Sutter found flakes of gold and tried to keep it a secret in order to keep all the gold to him self. Though people found out about it and many came to California in order to obtain gold. Many of the people didn’t find gold but some people found nuggets of gold. Many people failed to find gold so they left , even more poor then how they came.
Mexico-American War • After the Americans won the west from Mexico. The Americans now had more land to govern and to live in. Many Americans went to live and restart their lives in the west.
