OSU Senate Research Council • Tasks We establish policies for matters pertaining to sponsored research activities By recommending priorities for - distribution of various internal funding programs and - for external solicitations that require limited submissions from the institution. By reviewing proposals for Centers, Institutes, and Research Programs (CIP), and By advising the Vice President for Research on matters related to CIP.

  3. Effectiveness • Most activities are directed toward the evaluation of LOI for limited institutional submissions and of proposals for Research Equipment Reserve Funds (RERF), General Research Funds (GRF) and Research Programs/Institutes/Centers. • How can we play a more proactive role?

  4. Some Ideas • Improve communication and flow of information between the Research Office and the faculty • Understand the present state of our - Research infrastructure - Supporting Services (OSP, OPAA, others) • Assess the challenges imposed by a growing academic population and the diversification of research activities and funding sources • Understand the constrains imposed in the distribution or Research Overhead • Advise the Research Office on long term research investment priorities
