Family Illness Leave • The Office of State Personnel has recently made a significant change to the Family Illness Leave policy. • Family Illness Leave can no longer run concurrently with Family and Medical Leave. • Employees must now fully exhaust their Family and Medical Leave entitlement before they can receive benefits under the Family Illness Leave policy. • When does the change go into effect? • Policy change effective January 1, 2012 - However, all active Family Illness Leave files must be reviewed and converted to Family and Medical Leave if appropriate. • Leave Administration Unit has begun to review all active Family Illness Leave files and will be following up with departments and employees impacted by the change. www.ncsu.edu/human_resources/benefits/

  3. Military Leave • Effective January 1, 2012, employees who are on active duty are no longer permitted to choose to continue to maintain their health insurance coverage in the State Health Plan by paying the full premium. www.ncsu.edu/human_resources/benefits/
