Why CBT? • CIS has low staff turnover - ad hoc training • varied student entry level • trainees geographically spread • content delivered in 1/2 time with CBT • standardization is important • self-paced learning - can start anytime • highly modular - updates and amendments easy to do - can also structure individual programs • can be used as refresher training

Ice Tutor 1.0 - Content • VISUAL ICE RECOGNITION • identification of various ice types, forms, concentrations, and arrangements • SAR IMAGERY INTERPRETATION • SAR Imaging of Sea Ice and Image Interpretation Techniques • Radar Remote Sensing • RADARSAT-1 • Interpreting SAR Imagery in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Canadian East Coast • Regional Considerations • Interpret Sea ice Types • Interpret Sea Ice Formations and Openings • Interpreting SAR Imagery in the Canadian Arctic • same as Gulf/East Coast with addition of Melt Season interpretation
