GSA – Foreign Visitor Exchange Program • The purpose is to provide GSA employees and their counterparts from other countries with an opportunity to effectively share the knowledge and experience they have acquired • To provide an opportunity to explore how other countries implement innovative ideas and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in their asset management and sustainability efforts

  3. GSA – Foreign Visitor Exchange Program • A three months program • In my case March till June 2011 • My three focus areas: • The structure of GSA as a public real estate agency • Sustainability policy • Building Information Modeling

GSA – Foreign Visitor Exchange Program • First phase – One Constitution Square • OGP - Structure of GSA • High-Performing Green Buildings • Second phase - 1800 F Street • Building Information Modeling • Sustainability • Art in Architecture • Third phase - Chicago Regional Office • Building Information Modeling

  5. GSA – Foreign Visitor Exchange Program • In addition to working with the GSA staff I got the opportunity to: • Visit construction sites • Participate in meetings with designers • Attend Congressional hearings • Attend a Summer program on BIM and FM • Attend the 2011 USGBC Government Summit

  6. GSA – Foreign Visitor Exchange Program • Comments: • Extremely valuable • Must not occupy the host to heavily • Important to have focus areas • Flexibility regarding duration • Can bring out innovative ideas
