Companies are exploring mobile coupons but the lack of standards prevent adoption Open Standards are required ! • How to synchronize/communicate coupon data between business partners (manufacturers, retailers and 3rd parties) • How mobile coupon data is captured from a consumer’s phone by the point of sale system • GS1 MobileCom Objective • Enable efficient and secure creation, communication, integration, and redemption processes for consumers and management of mobile coupons through the development of open standards and systems that foster implementation.
We must accelerate to make a real impact on the mobile coupons area ! Completed to date: • Standards Change Request Submitted (Jan. 2010) • Business Case Document Approved by Steering Committee (Feb. 2010) • First review by GS1 Leadership at Advisory Council (May. 2010) Next Steps: • Finalize Statement of Business Needs (Industry Costs) in Amsterdam Working Session (Wednesday 29 Sept. AM) • Submit Statement of Business Needs to Retail Value Chain Group and get their approval • Start or include the work on existing standards work groups
