Fragments • Fragments are incomplete sentences such as : • Went to the store. • Who went to the store? A sentence needs a subject. • Brian went to the store. • Brian is the subject. That is a correct sentence.
Run On • A run on is two complete sentences that are not correctly joined together with punctuation. • John is a musician, he plays guitar for a living. • John is a musician. (that is one sentence) He plays for a living. (that is another sentence) • Both sentences should be separated with punctuation such as a period. • John is a musician. He plays guitar for a living.
