Whole performance • Initial Data Collection - Match analysis • Observation sheet, grade effectiveness of different skills • 3 teams, 2 play, one observes, individual observer for each player, • Effective = fluent, controlled, SUCCESS • Limited effectiveness = Some control and timing, some success, NEEDS IMPROVEMENT • Ineffective = CONSIDERABLE improvement, jerky, unrecognisable, NO success, never attempt skill. • EACH skill attempt put a tick in the box. Box with most ticks (limited effectiveness) gives you information on performing that skill.
Initial Data: Whole Performance Method used – Match Analysis Place a tick in the box each time you use the skill. HIGHLY EFFECTIVE: fluent, controlled, etc LIMITED EFFECTIVENESS: needs improvement INEFFECTIVE: needs considerable improvement
Movement analysis • Video your attempts (10). 5 attempts at both techniques – Drag R to L and Dummy drag L drag R • Compare to model (video) performer • Fill in Preparation, Action, Recovery • Grade every sub routine • Same grading 1, 2, 3
Skilled Performance • Watch the video clip and try to remember the key words that mean a performance has a high skill level • Skilled Performance • Discuss with your partner what you think features of a skilled performance are

Describe Skilled Performance • Watch the clip again and write a descriptive sentence or two that says why the players performance was skilled. • Use the key words from the previous slide to construct your description • Skilled Performance • Compare your description with a partner

Consistently accurate. Applying the skill at the accurately, at the correct time and consistently is another feature of a skilled performer….”
