Project example: 150 MW Sakri Solar PV Plant • Borrower: Government of India - Executing Agency: MAHAGENCO • Loan EUR 250 Million (Reduced Interest Loan) - Grant for Technical Assistance EUR 0.7 Million • Date of loan signing: 10 August 2011 • Currently 125 MW are already producing power • Estimated electricity generation: 216 GWh p.a. - Estimated CO2 Reduction 186,000 tons p.a. 69 % 6
Solar Projects in India • KfW has currently invested 290 million Euros (2,000 crore Rupees) in 13 solar projects. • KfW is refinancing loans of IREDA and REC for 12 projects. • KfW’s largest investment in the solar sector is the 150 MW Sakri project implemented by MAHAGENCO in the state of Maharashtra. • For the future we are: • looking for financing our first CSP project in India; • planning to finance additional large PV projects of public utilities; • looking at options to finance solar parks and rooftop system of private households, industry and public companies; • preparing a research project with NTPC-NETRA for CSP and CPV technologies. 69 % 9
KfW – Green Energy Corridors • Joint Declaration on Indo-German Development Cooperation Regarding the Establishment of Green Energy Corridors signed in Berlin on April 11th, 2013. • Basis for the strategic cooperation between Germany and India to foster the grid integration of renewable energies in India. • Technical Assistance shall be offered via GiZ e.g. for forecasting and market design. • Financial Contribution via KfW shall be 1 billion Euros over the next years. 10
