1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails…. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Present Absence of Love Does Not Mean One Can Never Love as One Ought It Means One Knows the Emptiness of the Loveless Showing Need & Way to It
Lessons about Responsibility of Love • Our responsibility of loving other humans is not contingent upon their perfection or worthiness • Love commanded to family & brethren – to enemies also • Must love based on principle of what is right • If love is of God, what does its absence say about one? • Love required towards others will demand difficult things • Though our love may be abused, it provides a better basis for our lives than hatred, bitterness, indifference… • Love is not based on feeling or reaction, but a decision • Our responsibility of loving God should be natural given His absolute perfection & worthiness • Acceptable love must be of free-will, not coercion
