What is P²AD? • Non-regulatory division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources • P2AD provides confidential, free assistance to clients that want to reduce water and energy use, waste, and emissions • These services are available to any Georgia business, service industry, governmental agency or institution

Energy Conserved Since the program began, P2AD Partners have reduced their energy use by 100.6 billion BTUs… enough to power 2,680 U.S. households for a year.
Water Saved P2AD Partners have reduced their water use by 237.5 million gallons… enough to fill the Georgia Aquarium almost 30 times.
Solid Waste Reduced Since the program began, P2AD Partners have reduced solid waste sent to landfills by 1,809 tons… almost 12 times the weight of the Statue of Liberty.
Recycled Materials Used Since the program began, P2AD Partners have increased their use of recycled materials by 16,487 tons… saving more than 12,000 cubic yards of landfill space.

Keys to Success • Obtain commitment & support from top • Understand your organizational structure and open lines of communication between departments • Have food, drinks or snacks for meetings • End meeting with objectives, a to do list & date for next meeting • Respect the organization’s calendar and peoples’ time • Build upon existing aquarium practices - only develop new practices where gaps exist
Next Steps • Establish an environmental team at your park: send a roster of members to P2AD • Draft an environmental policy: send a copy to P2AD • GAP Analysis: P2AD and GEP will be coming to your park this fall to perform this analysis • Baseline: P2AD will work with you to determine a baseline of energy, water use and waste generation at your park
