Prewriting andGPS and PLO • Prewriting Stage • Georgia Performance Standard ELA4R1 The student demonstrates comprehension and shows evidence of a warranted and responsible explanation of a variety of literary and informational texts.i. Identifies rhyme and rhythm, repetition, similes, and sensory images in poems. • PLO: Student will complete a graphic organizer and use it to write an acrostic poem.

  3. Graphic organizer for the prewriting stage of acrostic poetry • Poetry: Poetry is a form of writing that has rhythm. Poems do not always rhyme, and they are written in metrical verse. • Prewriting: During prewriting, the author organizes his/her ideas. Revises manuscripts to improve the meaning and focus of writing by adding, deleting, consolidating, clarifying, and rearranging words and sentences. • PLO: Student will revise their acrostic poem drafts.

  9. Practice ActivityRevising Stage • Students will work together as a class to decide which words from the graphic organizer they think are the most appropriate to describe the class. • Students will choose one word for each letter.

  10. Assessment ActivityRevising Stage • Students will use the words chosen by the class to create one descriptive sentence for each letter.
