MAS–SW: Who are we? • MAS is the trusted provider of advice and hands-on support for manufacturers aiming to achieve sustainable success • Free on-site reviews • Subsidised in-depth support for SME’s • Training and Networking • Not for profit, funded by the EU & BIS • Recently won new contract to run MAS until 2013
Levels of support available • Basic advice and guidance – helpline and website • On site free review and diagnostic • Subsidised Project support • Events , workshops and local sourcing
Key areas of support Tailored for business needs
Strategic support • Tailored programme of support • 2 to 8 days depending on company requirements • In depth financial review • Focuses on business development and future growth • Identifying key barriers and issues • Mentoring and coaching to over come barriers • Strategy map and action plan to secure future growth
Design / Innovation support • Tailored programme of support • Up to 10 days or £3K in grant support • New idea generation and validation • Focuses on new process as well as product introduction • Investigating new designs and solutions • Reduce costs, material usage, packaging etc • Improve process efficiency, Carbon footprint etc • Application of design best practice
Grant support • Key support areas are : • Product / process design consultancy • CE marking or other certifications • Links to knowledge bases • New process research and introduction • 3rd party training for new technology
Operational support • Three key areas : • Quality – reduce rejects, waste and unnecessary rework • Cost – reduce operating costs , increase staff effectiveness, reduce materials and inventory, improve floor space utilisation • Delivery – reduce lead times, improve work flow, reduce delays, ensure ‘right first time’
Lean Tools and techniques • 7 wastes – Value and non value adding activity. • Workplace organisation – 5s • Problem solving • Set up reduction • Process flow • Visual management • Etc, etc + Six Sigma

Working in Partnership • We provide initial free on site reviews to explore a range of support possibilities within your company • If our offerings do not suit we will work with you to make best use of the funded support available to your company and manage the process when referring on to other programmes • We successfully partner with a wide range of supporting bodies.
