  3. A THIRD RACE We are a newly created race. We are to be different. put off your old self…put on the new self

Ephesians 5:15-20 Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  5. Ephesians 5:15-20 Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.  • Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. • Instead, be filled with the Spirit,  • speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. 

  6. Now what happens when you're filled with the Spirit? (Eph) • 5:19, you'll speak to yourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs • 5:20, you'll be thankful; you'll give thanks always for all things. • 5:21, you will submit yourselves to each other. • 5:22, Spirit filled wives will submit to their husbands. • 5:25, Spirit filled husbands will love their wives. • 6:1, Spirit filled children will obey their parents. • 6:4, Spirit filled fathers will not provoke their children to wrath. • 6:5, Spirit filled servants will be obedient, • 6:9, Spirit filled masters will treat their servants right.

  7. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom (Col 3:16) 3:16, teaching and admonishing one another, with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs." 3:17, "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, give thanks." 3:18 wives submit to your husbands, 3:19 husbands love your wives, 3:20 children obey your parents, 3:21 fathers provoke not your children, 3:22 servants obey your masters. 4:1, "Masters, give your servants what is just and equal."

  8. Being Filled with the Spirit • It is not an event • We are not commanded to seek an event • It is a state of being • Being moved along, permeated, controlled • Being filled produces fruit, not gifts… It produces JOY

  9. Ephesians 5:15-20 be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.  • Sing and make music • from your heart to the Lord,  • always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
