What is the Co-Op Program? • Planned & progressive career-related student employment program integrating academic studies and on-the-job work experience • Recruitment vehicle for all categories (scientist, engineer along with business and financial positions) • Non-competitive conversion after satisfactory completion of educational & work requirements 3
StudentBenefits • Students accepted into the U of MD program in aerospace or mechanical engineering attending classes at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center (SMHEC) will automatically be accepted into the Co-Op program. 4
StudentBenefits • Tuition Assistance and Book Reimbursement • Tuition assistance and book reimbursement limited to six semesters or nine quarters • Book reimbursement up to $400 per semester/quarter • Engineering Tuition Reimbursement • Up to $4,500 per semester, not to exceed $13,500 per year 5
StudentBenefits • Co-Op available to sophomores at CSM, or Juniors & Seniors in the U of MD at SMHEC program • Summer and holiday break employment • Sophomores - $11.10/hr to $13.97/hr • Juniors & Seniors - $12.11 to $15.75/hr • Permanent full-time position upon completion of the program 6

Co-Op Student Requirements • One year work/school experience (sophomore level or above) is preferred but not required • Must be a U.S. Citizen • Enroll with CSM’s Career Services Coordinator • Lisa Warren, 301-934-7533 lisawa@csmd.edu 9
Student Retention • As an option, students may enroll in the Co-Op program and not accept tuition and book reimbursement. Remain in good standing w/academic institution. • Full-time student / work on school breaks • Half-time student / work min of 16 hours per week • Notify Co-Op Program Manager of changes in major, school, academic progress, etc. 10
Student Retention • Service obligation: three months of employment for every month of tuition reimbursement (3:1) • Complete education in reasonable timeframe • Tuition assistance is limited to six semesters or nine quarters (equivalent) regardless of your full time or part time status. • Extensions reviewed on a case-by-case basis 11
Applications are accepted year-round for the Co-Op program; however, the highest priority will be given to students enrolled in the AE or ME programs offered by the U of Md at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. • If you do not pursue the AE or ME program at SMHEC, you may still apply for a Co-Op position; however, your application will be considered in a much larger candidate pool on a competitive basis. 12
