RII Track-1 strategic planning guidance document is available
The RII Track-1 strategic plan is a living document • Drafted initially in award Year 1 • Revised regularly (e.g., annually) • Responsive to project stakeholders
Where is the strategic plan used? “The Strategic Plan and Annual report are also part of the materials provided to the review panels for Reverse Site Visits, NSF Committees of Visitors, and other evaluation and assessment panels.”
Ways to use your strategic planto your benefit “What did we accomplish that we said that we would accomplish?” “Where we came up short – how should we revise our program to ensure success next year?” “Did our External Advisory Board and evaluators agree with our assessment of our progress to date?” “Were our strategic plan milestones used as the basis for measuring progress in our Annual Progress Report?”
Ways to help your reviewers use your strategic plan • Include actual science milestones in addition to science administration milestones • For each major area of your project, distill your milestones to a simple chart that will fit in a PowerPoint™ slide
Example Celebrate success – and report your accomplishments Address the challenges involved
