Overarching Theme for 2009 • ‘The Ripple Effect’ • Act of spreading the Peer Support Spirit • Reaching out to the school population • Ignite a peer support spirit within the board and allow the PSLs to spread this spirit to the rest of the school population • PSB aims to be the first ripple, which would subsequently create new ripples • Starts from the seniors to the rest of the board

Our Mascot • Depicts the role that PSLs play – we’re friendly and approachable people • Dolphins never swim alone – we support one another and others as a team • We ‘Ride the waves with you’
Direction of the Board’ 09 • Key focuses: • Internal board bonding • Deeper outreach to the school population • Aims: • Be like a family to each other • Leave a deeper impression on the school population through our outreach programmes • Strike a balance • Peer support should NOT stop at peer supporting activities • Attitudes we carry
Our Vision To be active creators of a caring and supportive school community that engages in continuous peer support
Our Mission • To cultivate passionate leaders who are driven to ignite the peer support spirit within the school community • To cultivate leaders of good character who are provided with opportunities to develop as positive role models for the school and the community

Who is a PSL? • A Peer Support Leader is one who is responsible, passionate and dedicated, who serves with patience, love and sincerity, and who always strives to make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.
Who is a PSL? • Is not merely someone who is enthusiastic and able to hype the crowd up • Constantly engages in Peer Supporting; takes the initiative to help others • Is sincere in helping others • Is always there for their peers, and do not expect anything in return • Can be identified as a PSL, even without a PSL-badge on the collar
What We Do • Induct Secondary Ones • Orientation 2009 • Weekly PSL sessions • Induct foreign scholars • Foreign Scholars’ Orientation (FSO) • Organize school events and external events • Involve in Planning, Execution • Provide Manpower such as Ushering, Reception Duty • Work with other leaders • With other leadership boards, schools, countries
What We Do • Attend seminars, workshops and training sessions • For example, Halogens Conference • Plan and execute board initiatives • Most importantly, we support our peers on an everyday basis!

Board Structure • Around 80 members • 10-15 JPSLs • Around 50 PSLs • Around 20 SPSLs • JPSLs: • Secondary 2 Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) • Selected through recommendations and a selection camp. • Pioneered in 2007 • PSLs: • - Secondary 3 PSLs • Open application and interviews • SPSLs: • - Reapply in Secondary 3 and go through interviews JPSB 08
Roles in the Board • JPSLs: • Learn from the S/PSLs and to gain an experience on peer supporting and planning of PSL sessions • PSLs: • To plan and execute PSL sessions and organize events • SPSLs: • Serve as mentors to the juniors and provide guidance • Set the direction for the board
How our board works • Rotation system • Every PSL will be in 2 committees throughout year • SPSLs will only be in one committee • Code of Conduct: • Maintain standards as a leadership board • Monthly general meetings • Updates • Bonding • Bonding activities • PSLTC • June Chalet • PSB night GMs PSB Night
How our board works • Trainings throughout the year • Ensure that we are equipped with necessary skills • Monthly Board Awards • To recognize outstanding PSLs who have exhibited exemplary qualities of a Peer Support Leader
How our board works • Mentorship Scheme – Mentorship Group Meetings (MGMs) • Newly introduced in 2008 • Seeks to help JPSLs and PSLs improve themselves as they • Embark on their exciting and meaningful PSL journey • Forge even more close relationships within the board • Regular meetings • Circulation of a logbook for reflections and input
Peer Support Sessions (PSL Sessions) • Conducted in Class I/C groups • 1 Class I/C group comprises 1-2 SPSL(s), 3 – 4 PSLs and 1 JPSL • No. of Class I/C groups correspond to no. of Secondary 1 classes
Peer Support Sessions (PSL Sessions) • Allows the Secondary Ones adapt to the RGS environment and ethos • Usually held on Saturday mornings • Around 13 weekly sessions spread across first 3 • months
Peer Support Sessions (PSL Sessions) • Goes in line with CLE theme of the year • Consists of ice-breakers, discussions, Peer Support • group sessions (PSGs), self-planned activities, games etc.
Our Journey Thus Far • Friendships forged and strengthened within the board • Unique experience of witnessing the growth and development of the sec ones • Outreach efforts have been slowly recognized by most of the school population • Self development – Developing on our strengths, improving on weaknesses
