Who’s tested? • This year, all students in grades 3-8 will be tested using the CRCT (Criterion Referenced Competency Test) What’s tested? • Students will be tested on all subject areas; reading, math, language arts, science, and social studies Why? • To make sure that students are learning the necessary curriculum at each grade level. The information is also used to assess schools.

How’s the Test Administered? • Students will focus on one subject a day beginning with reading • Administered from 8am-10:30am beginning April 16 • It is given in 2 sessions with a short break between the sessions • Teacher reads the directions and a sample question, then the students complete that section
How’s the Test Scored? • The scantron is scored by a machine • Results are due back at the beginning of May • Students who get… • < 800 Does not meet standards • 800-849 Meets standards • >850 Exceeds the standards • You will receive a detailed report that explains your child’s scores and it will have a break down of how they did on specific skills
What Are WE Doing to Get Ready? • TEACHING! Just about every moment is spent on teaching and learning • We administer benchmark tests every 9 weeks • Using scantrons throughout the year • Power Hour for all 3rd grade students • Teaching/ practicing testing strategies: What do good test-takers do?
What Can YOU do to Get Ready? • Online Assessment System (OAS) Please encourage your child to use this. • Username – GTID (Can be found on the Parent Portal) • Password – student • Resources (School Box or Books A Million) • Spectrum • Coach books • Reading at Home • Ask comprehension questions • Language Arts at Home • Encourage writing stories or letters to friends and family members. Then revise/edit together. • Math at Home • Constantly Practice Basic facts
