Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When dealing with candidates an examiner will • Use authority with care, honesty and integrity • Assess a candidate’s performance on the day • Be sensitive to a candidate’s feelings
Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When dealing with candidates an examiner will also • Avoid argument with a candidate • Not re-test a candidate • Not test a candidate from own club, except for defined tests
Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – Specific Advice • Non-Jury Exam • Check log books carefully • Brief candidates thoroughly • Take time doing the buddy/equipment check • Do exercises in sequence agreed during brief
Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – Specific Advice • Non Jury Exam - cont. • Watch for signs of nervousness • Oral exam - no more than 10 minutes • Difficulty with a question move on • A pass rate of 60% on oral exam • Feedback - quickly and honestly
