  2. Background • Enemies had stopped the wells of Abraham • Isaac worked hard to dig again the wells of his father because well water was essential to life • Isaac displayed patience, perseverance, and piety in the face of his enemies • What lessons can be learned from this story?

  3. The Well of Salvation • God is the well of salvation for us today (Isa. 12:3-4; 58:11-12; Zech. 13:1; Jn. 4:10,14; 7:37-39; Rev. 22:17) • Some do not want the waters of salvation from God (Jer. 2:13), but for those who do, they must seek it (Jer. 6:16)

  4. Enemies Stop the Well • Ancient examples: Jewish tradition (Mt. 15:9; 23:13; Acts 15; Gal. 2) Greek idolatry & philosophy (Acts 17; Col. 2)
