  10. CONTINUOS EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR THE INDIGENOUS POPULATION, “with real access”.

  11. CONTINUOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR THE INDIGENOUS POPULATION OF COSTA RICA, UNDER ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY OF THEIR TERRITORIES.

  12. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

  13. OBJECTIVE Promote the improvement of the quality of life of the indigenous communities in Costa Rica, through a permanent and continuous education process, in a sustainable environment.

  14. The Program involves the education of the students through a the formation of techniques in several areas as: • Indigenous Organizations Administration • Environmental Management • Information Systems • Legal Promoters • Conversational English

  15. The Program has being designed by the Magister University Professors with different actors of the Local Indigenous Organizations, and the National Indigenous Commission. It consist of 10 to 12 continuous Modules of 5 weeks each one, achieving a total of 200 hours, and will be taught in each Territory, to groups of 22 students. The students do not required High School Diploma; however, those students who accomplished High School can continue with the University Programs.

  16. THE INDIGENOUS STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A TECHNIQUE DIPLOMAAFTER A YEAR THE GRADUATES CAN WORK FOR THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES, PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS OR THEIR OWN MICRO BUSINESS.

  18. 24 COSTA RICAN INDIGENOUS TERRITORIES

  19. COSTARRICAN INDIGENOUS POPULATION COSTA RICA HAS AN ESTIMATED POPULATION OF ABOUT 65 THOUSAND INDIGENOUS, DISTRIBUTED IN 24 TERRITORIES. THIS POPULATION IS DISTRIBUTED AS FOLLOWS: 1/3 INSIDE THE TERRITORIES (THE MOST POVERTY POPULATION) 1/3 AT THE PERIPHERIA OF THE TERRITORIES 1/3 MIXED IN THE MAIN COUNTIES (LOOSING THEIR CULTURE) ALL OF THEM ARE SUFFERING FOR THE LACK OF BASIC SYSTEMS, HOWEVER THE INDIGENOUS THAT LIVE INSIDE THE TERRITORIES ARE THE MOST AFFECTED BY POVERTY. THIS PROJECT WILL START FROM INSIDE TO OUTSIDE.

  20. METHODOLOGY TO FACILITATE THE MOVILITY OF THE INDIGENOUS, THE EDUCATION WILL BE OFFERED IN EACH TERRITORY. THE TEACHING TECHNIQUES WILL BE ACOMPLISHED WITH THE CONCEPTS OF ADULT EDUCATION.

  21. INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATION COUNT WITH THREE NETWORKS: • THE NATIONAL INDIGENOUS YOUTH NET • THE NATIONAL INDIGENOUS WOMEN NET • THE NATIONAL INDIGENOUS LOCAL GOVERMENT NET AS WELL AS • THE NATIONAL INDIGENOUS COMMISSION

  22. TERRITORIES and STUDENTS • THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN DESIGNED FOR GROUPS OF 22 STUDENTS FORTERRITORY. • 450-500 GRADUATES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE FIRST YEAR, BASED ON ONE GROUP PER TERRITORY. THE 24 TERRITORIES ARE CONSIDERED IN THIS PROJECT. • THE IMPACTWILL BE NATIONAL and SUSTAINABLE.

  24. Sponsorships can be received from: USD $1.000 for one Student USD $22.000 for one Territory USD $ 24.000 for one Net

FOLLOW - UP AND IMPACT • MANAGEMENT INDICATORS WILL BE INCLUDED IN EACH PROGRAM. • LEARNED EXPERIENCES FOR THE STUDENTS WILL BE APPLIED IN AGREEMENT WITH THE LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS. • THIS PROJECT EXPECT TO ABSORVE EXPERIMENTED GRADUATES INDIGENOUS AS FUTURE TEACHERS FOR SPECIFIC SUBJECTS, TRANSMITING THE MAIN CONCEPTS OF THEIR CULTURE.

  26. MAGISTER UNIVERSITY Magister University is a private Institution established in San José over 20 year. Its group of collaborators have decided to devote its SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY to the Indigenous Communities of Costa Rica. A Sustainable Program for the Education of the Indigenous of Costa Rica has been carefully designed together with a group of experts and enthusiastic indigenous, to respond to the national wide absence of proposals and integrated education offer; reducing obstacles and giving as well opportunities to access to higher education.

  27. MAGISTER UNIVERSITY YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM Magister University is conducting a Youth Volunteer Program. Indigenous from different Ethnics are participating and accumulating hours that are being paid with Education.

  29. MAGISTER UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY WORK FOR STUDENTS MAGISTER UNIVERSITY IS DIRECTING THE STUDENTS COMMUNITY WORK TO THE INDIGENOUS TERRITORIES, OFFERING THE OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP TO THEIR LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS IN DIFFERENT AREAS.
