Academic Affairs and Workforce Divisional Resource Prioritization April 30, 2013 Leticia Barajas, VP Academic Affairs and Workforce Development
INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION PRIORITIZATION PROCESS • All Department Resource Requests • Classified and certificated personnel requests removed (they follow another process) • Divisional Chairs and Deans received rubric developed by Institutional Effectiveness along with department program review and closing the loop information related to resource requests • Scores received by 12pm 4/30/2013 tallied • Resource requests were ordered from highest to lowest while ensuring that department order was maintained; the vote of the chair was included in the total score • Academic Council members agreed on moving forward with the rankings in this manner for this year’s Prioritized Resource requests 400 W. REFLECTING ON 2012-13 PROCESSIdeas for process improvement • Establish and communicate timeline early – start in Fall semester • Provide rubric for evaluation and scoring training at the beginning • Post training session - capture process digitally and provide visuals and tools • Develop a “data dashboard” to provide a better trend analysis and data • Consider methods that promote and facilitate inter-departmental collaboration to address needs that cut across college and departments • Keep Program Review format for the entire four-year cycle • Determine what are the key metrics to evaluate program effectiveness (e.g. graduation rates, success, etc) • Enhance and provide time for on-going dialogue opportunities among all involved chair/faculty/dean/staff/vp • Consider how college separates global vs individual department needs 400 W. NEXT STEPS • Complete the 12-13 Program Review/Planning and Budgeting Cycle • Review, evaluate, and validate comprehensive four-year Program Review/Prioritization at Department Level review, (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13) 3. Conduct meta-analysis - validate, review, evaluate what we have done at process-level 400 W. Washington Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90015 - college.lattc.edu/wed
