  5. Harold Syntax • Take out the Clause/ conjunction handout from many weeks ago if you have it. • What is required of a clause? • What are three types of conjunctions? • What are four types of sentences?

  7. Objectives: • What is Shared Inquiry? • What is meant by an interpretive question? • What is the difference between level one and level 2 Costa questions?

  8. Focus Question • What is meant by The American Dream? • Did Matthew Henson attain the American Dream? • What makes people achieve the impossible?

  9. Active Listening • Keep in mind: • Read aloud • Record notes/ Costa Questions as you listen. • Think about the time period of the story. • Think about any new vocabulary in context. • Be ready to ask Costa level 2 and three questions.

  10. Remember to take notes. • What are time element clues? • Write Costa questions/ interpretive questions • Write clues/evidence of importance from the story.
