  2. FIRE MOCK DRILL Mahavir Senior Model School organized a fire mock drill on 27th September, 2012 to import better understanding of fire hazards, their impacts and mitigation strategies for reducing the impact. Mr. Sajjan Kumar, a government employee, trained in organizing such drills conducted the complete event for classes 1st to 12th, and awakened students as to how to escape in case of an emergency. The drill groomed students about the various methods of dealing with hazardous situations.

  3. Gandhi Jayanti • Celebration Remembering the ‘Father of Nation’, Mahavir Sr. Model School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 1st October ,2012 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The event began with a prayer paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi. It was followed by poems and speech based on teachings of Gandhi ji. A street play depicting corruption was presented by students. An orchestra dedicated to him re energized the students. The event was finally concluded by our honorable principal Shri S.L. Jain.

  4. ADVERTISEMENT • COMPETITION • English Department organized ENACTING AN ADVERTISEMENT competition on 18th OCTOBER, 2012 in the conference hall for classes IX AND X. The topic for the competition was social values. The objective was to enhance the language skills of students. Students came out with brilliant performances. The judges for the competition were MRS. HEMA AND MRS. KANCHAN.

  5. DUSSEHRA CELEBRATION TheSchool witnessed Dussehra celebrations to remember the epic victory of Lord Rama over demon Ravana i.e. victory of good over evil. The event commenced with a prayer. It was followed by speech and poems by students of primary section. A play was presented by students of middle section, briefing up the events of Ramayana. A street play was presented by students of class 10th depicting the 10 heads of Ravana i.e. ten evils prevalent in today’s society. A qawwali by senior students rejuvenated the students. Finally, the event was concluded by our honorable principal Shri S.L Jain.

  6. SPACE SCIENCE CELEBRATION Mahavir Senior Model School, as a part of its “Space Science Celebration”, recently organized an act, depicting the interview of late Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian women astronaut, who died in Columbia Space Shuttle crash on Feb 1.2003. The sole objective was to create awareness among the masses that hard work and determination eventually pay off . The role of Kalpana Chawla was enacted by Isha Jain of class XII-C and interviewer was Nikhil Grover of XII-C. The principal appreciated the efforts of participants of teacher in charge and encouraged them to organize more of such events.

  7. 3D PLANETARIUM SHOW In continuation to the ‘Space-Science Programme’, science department organized a Planetarium show on 30th October and 31st October for classes I-XII. Universe was brought under a dome by a ‘Portable High Definitions Digital Sky’ with an aim to give an easy access to students to Astronomy which has universal reach and appeal. Each show was customized class wise- and designed for the students from I-XII keeping in mind their acumen. Principal Shri S.L. Jain inaugurated the show and congratulated the science Dept. for organizing such an interesting & mind stirring programme in the school. He further inspired students to imbibe scientific temperament.

  8. On 8th November,2012, English Department(Primary) organized an Exhibition of works developed by students of classes I-V on the topic,"Different Yet One". Exhibition was aimed at exploring differentnational & international festivals and thus it included the display ofwall magazines, masks, files and collages depicting the same idea.There were oral presentations & dance-depictions of the variousfestivals celebrated in and out of India. The audiences were thrilled and amazed at the hard-work put in by the students, and enjoyed the programme. DIFFERENT YET ONE

  9. DIWALI CELEBRATION Diwali was celebrated in Mahavir Senior Model School on November 19th with great enthusiasm. The day commenced with a prayer. A mesmerizing tabla performance was given by Moksh Sharma of class 9th. Students presented their speeches on the reasons for celebrating Diwali not only in Hindu religion but also in others. A vocal performance and a dance performance were a treat for all the music lovers. Street play by eleventh graders left the audience spell bound. Finally the day was concluded with a speech from our honorable principal Shri S.L Jain.

  10. FANCY DRESS COMPETITION The young bubbling children of class IV and V explored celestial objects through a Fancy Dress Competition on 21st November , 2012, organized by Mrs. Sharmila Batra from Science Department. The children were dressed as Alien, Moon, Planets, Stars and Satellites. First Position was bagged by Niyati Jain, Second Position was shared by Bhumika and Vaibhav. The third position was shared by Palak and Pratham. Ira was appreciated   with Consolation Prize.

  11. QUIZ COMPETITION Social Science Department organized a Quiz Competition on 23rd November 2012 , Friday as a part of the ISA project. The topic of the quiz was ‘India and its Neighbors ’. Three teams of 7th standard participated with 4 members in each team . The quiz had 4 rounds with covered information regarding geographical , cultural heritage and politics of India and its neighboring countries. Students of class 7th – B bagged the 1st position

  12. DENGUE AWARENESS RALLY Students of Mahavir Senior Model School participated in a MCD rally conducted to awaken people about dengue fever. The rally included students of class 5th who prepared banners and pamphlets. The group rallied in Sangam Park Extension and Rana Pratap Bagh to aware people about the steps and precautions to avoid dengue fever. The rally was conducted under the supervision of schoolteachers Mr. S.S.YADAV AND MR. RAM VILAS.

  13. SKIT COMPETITION As a part of I.S.A. Project, English Department organized a Skit Competition “Thou Art Inspiration” depicting an incident from the life of great personalities of the world, such as Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale, Martin Luther King-etc. Students of XII A, depicting the life of Stephen Hawkins held the audience spell bound with their outstanding performance and bagged 1st position, while XI A that depicted the life of Thomas Edison got 2nd Position. Mrs. Narinder Kaur & Mrs. Hema Sawal, Senior teachers of English faculty and judges of the event applauded the efforts of the students and gave them the tips for further improvement. It was a great learning experience for the students and they clearly took home the message that “Success Comes only through perseverance.”

  14. Street play competition Science department of the school organized a street play competition under the ISA project for class 10th. Topic for the competition was ‘Cut the junk for healthy adult life’. Students came out with captivating performances under the able guidance of Ms Geeta Kumar. Total of 6 groups participated with motto ‘Eat right live right’ that captured everybody’s attention and appraisal. The message was effectively conveyed to the parents who participated as active audience. Along with the final result judges praised groups for their meticulous efforts and guided them too with their words of wisdom. Honorable Principal conveyed his blessings and concluded the program with the message of including healthy food in the diet.

  15. SCIENCE SPECTRUM Students of Mahavir Senior Model School participated in “Science Spectrum” hosted by Tagore International School on November 8th 2012 . The main theme of Science Spectrum was “Revolutionary medical therapy to diagnose, monitor and treat diseases while you sleep”. The activities included caricature making, slogan writing and symposium competition. Dolly Jain and Ananya Bhardwaj of Class XII C got 1st prize in Symposium. Swati Patwa of Class IX A got 2nd prize in caricature making. OUR SCHOOL ALSO GOT THE BEST SCHOOL TROPHY AMONGST THE TOP SCHOOLS OF DELHI. Our honorable Principal Shri S.L Jain appreciated the efforts of students.

  16. USES OF STATISTICS IN DAILY LIFE Under the ISA activity 2012, a project based on the ‘Use of statistics in daily life’ was organized for students of classes 8th and 10th. Students enthusiastically took part in it, and made wonderful presentations depicting uses of statistics in daily life. Students explored information and collected data about some countries like India, China, and Japan. Students of class 8th collected data regarding level of pollution in air in different countries and represented it in an interesting manner. On the other hand, the students of 10th class collected data showing literacy rate of different countries and represented it by graph. Working in groups enhanced their team spirit and they learnt to work with unity.

  17. TWISTERED MINDS To strengthen the learning of Mathematical concepts & to develop enthusiasm for learning Mathematics, Maths Department organized various competitions & presentations throughout the year. (1) Coloring competition using Geometrical shapes & symbols was held on 22nd Oct. 2012. All the students of class I participated in this competition (2) Drawing Competition using Geometrical shapes & symbols was held on 17th Aug. 2012 for class II & 22nd Sep. 2012 for class III. 10 students from each section of both the classes participated in it. (3) Presentation of Mathematical Terms was held on 19th Dec.2012. 3 students from each section of class IV & V participated in it. (4) Braino (Mental Maths test to check speed & accuracy) was held in Feb. 2012. 5 student from each section of classes VI to X participated in it. (5) Rangoli Competition using Geometrical shapes & symbols was held on 25th Jan.2012. Students from classes VIII & IX participated in it.

  18. SCIENCE EXHIBITION As a part of ISA Project for various classes, science department of Mahavir Sr. Model School organized a variety of activities for children. All these works by students were displayed in the ‘Science Exhibition held on 19th and 20th December. The activities included placards by 6th graders on amazing facts about animals and plants, newsletter on adaptation in animals and plants by students of 7th class and posters by 9th class students on ‘Cut the junk for healthy adult life’. The efforts of children were applauded and praised by our honorable principal sir, guests and parents and they also gave them tips for further improvement.
