The Vikings where the most feared invaders of the north during the 800-900s. • They where Germanic people who lived in what is now the countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. • They had pagan gods they had many myths for and how it came to be. • They had many burials that they included boats and tools. • Their government was ruled by kings and nobles, suprisingly the government was very democratic for its time. • Assemblies of landowners made their laws. Although the Vikings may sound like a calm civilization, they were actually the worst people to come across because they pillaged and raided other towns and cities, that’s why they were the most feared. • They would travel through Germany, France, and the Baltic area, they would raid and loot these areas. • They would bring their captives back to work on their farms and land. tage hansen 3rd per

Maldon • The battle of Maldon was the English against the Viking invasion. • The English where invaded and where soon defeated and began to have the king buy off the Vikings to stop the armed struggle, so they paid them 10,000 roman pounds in silver to buy them off. • The English soon came back at around 1066 A.D. and fought the Vikings once more and defeated them at the Stamford bridge. tage hansen 3rd per
