Lifespan/endangered • Scarlet macaws can live to be 50 years old. They are not endangered.
Habitat/climate • Scarlet macaws live in the canopy of humid, low land in forests near rivers, southern Mexico, through Central America to southern Brazil.
Food Scarlet macaws eat large fruits, seeds, and nuts. During breeding season they eat insects and larvae. They also eat clay. They are omnivore.
Physical features • They are red, yellow, and blue. They have short legs, that help them keep their balance. Their length is 2 feet 9 inches (85 centimeters).
Prey • Scarlet macaws don’t eat other animals. Their predators are Harpy eagles , snakes, toucans, jaguars, monkeys, and humans.
Babies • They can have 2 to 4 chicks every year or two.
Behavioral Adaptation • Scarlet macaws are rarely found apart from their mates once they have formed a pair bond.
