QuIIN Networks • Quality Improvement Innovation Networks (QuIIN) • Created in 2005 as a network of outpatient practicing pediatricians • In 2011, transitioned from a single network to the umbrella “brand” for AAP quality improvement networks (PIN and VIP) • Approximately 400 total QuIIN members in 46 states plus PR, MX, and Pakistan • Practice Improvement Network (PIN) – Outpatient • Created in 2005 as the QuIIN Network, renamed to PIN in 2011 • Approximately 289 practicing pediatricians and their staff • Value In Inpatient Network (VIP) – Inpatient • In 2011, became a network housed under the QuIIN brand • Approximately 97 pediatric hospitalist members/75 hospitals • QuIIN Network Membership Profile • Practicing clinicians and their staffs • Experience or interest in Quality Improvement

QuIIN Mission The mission of the QuIIN is to improve the quality and value of care and outcomes for children and families through process improvement in everyday pediatric practice, including the child’s medical home and across the care continuum. QuIIN members also participate by informal assessment that provides practicing pediatrician perspective into evidenced based recommendations and tools for implementation.

Upcoming Projects • Bronchiolitis Project - Improve care of children with acute bronchiolitis in the hospital setting and reduce unnecessary utilization of interventions • Comparison of Immunization QI Dissemination Strategies - Partner with Children’s National Medical Center; funded by Pfiizer - Study the effect of QI dissemination models on the immunization coverage of children ages 3 to 18 mo old • Genetics in Primary Care Institute Quality Improvement Project - Funded by HRSA, MCHB - Improve the provision of genetic services in primary care, including family history collection - Pilot project for the AAP Quality Improvement Data Aggregator (QIDA) • Benchmarking Project -Data collection using inpatient diagnoses/processes - Use data for future improvement work - - Pilot project for the AAP Quality Improvement Data Aggregator (QIDA)

  10. AAP Quality Improvement Data Aggregator (QIDA) • Brand new system! QuIIN will pilot in 2013 • Web-based data aggregation system • Clinician enter chart data securely by patient or in aggregate form • Clinician enter data by chart or encounter • Analyzes data via real time run charts • Learn QI basics (based on project specifications) • Collaboration between project team members • View project specific resources and QIDA system documents
